Of Special Note - The emerald mithrax crab is a very hardy crab that is popular in aquariums. It is brightly colored and has a shiny body with hairy legs. It is a scavenger and gladly eats various species of algae, including bubble algae.

Unfortunately, this crab species can be hostile towards tankmates if it gets hungry. It is known to attack everything from fish to coral if desperate enough. As a result, it might not be suitable for a reef tank except when combating bubble algae.
